Flat design can be seen everywhere, major smartphone UI’s (iO7, Windows 8), apps and software – adding an exaggerated 45 degree shadow spices things up. Jeff Escalante, the guy who initiated this trend discussion, called it Long Shadow Design. The shadow gives a sense of depth, but you still maintain the flat look of the object or icon. It’s a design trend that you either love or dislike. So, how long it will last? Is it already a ‘no-no’ to add to the uncool to use list? For me, if it looks good then use it, learn from it and have fun. Here are a few of my recent Illustrator long shadow designs.
